Butterfly Control Valves

Butterfly Control Valves

Category:

A butterfly control valve turns a disc inside the pipe bore to regulate flow. Its short body and low weight make it a practical choice for large cooling water, air and gas lines where installation space is limited. In a double offset design the disc lifts away from the seat early in opening and only contacts it again near closure, which reduces rubbing through most of the travel. Tight shutoff does not guarantee good control at low flow, so the capacity curve at minimum demand and the actuator torque through the full travel should always be checked.

Common Applications

  • Large cooling water and circulation lines
  • Air and gas handling systems
  • Applications with limited available pressure drop
  • Installations where space and weight are restricted
